willow : (Tokyo, Japan)
The group 'Willow', hailing from Japan, consists of Toshikazu 'Feedbacka' Takano & Takafumi 'Liquid Bass' Noda and has published music under this pseudonym since 2002.
The band members first met in 1992 when playing in each band performing funk, soul, reggae and jazz music. Back then they had no idea that years later they would be producing music together, but when meeting again by accident in Club Yellow (one of the best-known clubs in Japan) in 2002 they quickly decided to form a band of their own.
Their music is influenced by soul, jazz and reggae but produced using only a macintosh computer. When playing live, bass guitar, synthesizers and other musical equipment is added to the performance. Willow have already performed live in various japanese clubs, among those places like 'Maniac Love' and 'Core'. Their first 'real' album is scheduled to be released in 2007 on CD.

Cool Spoon 〜 Electronic cafe Tokyo (Simple Soul Sound System) 〜 Jungllisimo!!!などを経て現在に至る。
Takafumi "Liquid Bass" Noda
いくつかのR&B〜Soulバンドでの活動を経て2002年に旧知であった高野と西麻布Yellowにて再会、互いのコンセプトに共鳴しwillowを結成。
遥か遠くジャマイカの地で生まれ、NYの地下ダンスに接触、太平洋を越えて此処に鳴る。
WILLOWはDUBという偉大な音楽的手法を用い、限りなく広いダンスミュージックの大海を泳ぎまわり、どこまでも深く・・思慮あるリスナーをマインドトリップにいざなう。
高野利和が鳴らすビートや旋律、孤高のサイレン音はソウルフルに発され・・野田貴文のベースは君の魂を揺さ振る・・。踏みならされるステップは解放への行進。

「カメがウサギを追い越した！」とか書くと怒られるかな、本人たちに。あるいは「周回遅れのトップランナー」とか。
いやほんと、そう思うんですよ。2000年代も半ばを過ぎて、個人的には「クラブ・ミュージックの先鋭性」なんてのもさすがに耐用年数が尽きたと感じる昨今ですが、そんな状況分析を尻目にウィローのふたりはなんだかとっても元気だ。新奇なディテールを追い求めるあまり、表現内容そのものがいつのまにか先細りになってしまった先人たちを横目に、ウィローはひたすら地道に「ああでもないこうでもない」と思い悩みながら自分たちの出したい音を探りつづけてきた。
一聴して「ああ、ダブ・ハウスね」とかそんな言葉で片付けてしまうような輩もいるだろうが、ちょっと待て。心の眼を開け。違いのわかる奴ならわかるはずだ。ウィローのすごさを。一音一音の太さが違う。音に込められた「念」が違う。フロアで体感してみればすぐにわかるはずだ。
